An expert has warned iPhone users not to download iOS 18 as it appears to be ‘bugging’.

The beta version, a preview release available to some users before the software goes live, has been available since then. Apple revealed the update at its WWDC event on Monday.

However, users who have downloaded the iOS 18 beta may encounter a host of issues with their phone’s performance, including shorter battery life and charging issues, missing or not delivered notifications, and some apps not working. .

It’s important to note that the beta version isn’t really ready for everyday iPhone use, and it’s risky to download if you only have one phone.

The software is not in its final form, and as such, anyone who downloads it will be open to a number of inconveniences and shutdowns as the system crashes while it tries to find its feet.

Tech writer Michael Swengel took to X to remind people that downloading software to your primary device is not recommended.

“Reminder: probably NOT a good idea to upgrade your primary (single) device to a beta version,” he wrote.

“This is the first public beta. There will be bugs.

‘If you want to try the beta I would recommend using another device if you have one.’

Apple’s iOS 18 launch looks tantalizing as it will have a host of new features that could make life easier, including ways to customize the home screen, messaging apps, the company’s new AI additions through Apple Intelligence and much more.

However, the version is designed for early developers who are trained to find bugs in software.

And there are many defects.

Developer John Williams Archer revealed on X that when he tested the beta on his spare iPhone 12 Pro Max, he found that the device would automatically restart when he exited the lock screen.

He also found that the new ‘Lock and hide an app’ feature, which can make apps invisible or accessible only through FaceID, didn’t work as intended, as he couldn’t open an app after closing it or hid it.

Another tech enthusiast found that when using the iOS 18 beta, app logos would disappear when changing the tone and color of the home screen.

Although the iOS 18 beta is readily available to download for those with an iPhone, it shouldn’t be too long to wait for the full product.

Apple has announced that the software should be released later this year, which could be in September, when Apple has a habit of releasing new software along with new devices – with the next iPhone 16.

But if you can’t wait until then and download the software, then you’ve been warned that it might not work as futuristic as you’d like.
